Loving this weather! Fall is here and we have only 3 games left!
After going through my hundreds of photos over the season and separating them into folders for each kid (yes, I spent a few nights working till 3 and 5 am - I'm a glutton for punishment!) I have decided I have enough pictures to do the books now and I found a sale on them that is only good until the 15th, this Thursday. So I have to get busy to get them all done in time. SO, please send me any photos you have that you would want in your child's book in the next day or so. The price for each book will be $5 which I think is great!
Also, if you have not RSVP'd for the end of season Team Party for everyone on Nov. 7th OR the Team Cocktail Party for just the grownups on Nov. 14th (I already have my babysitter!), please do so ASAP as a courtesy to those planning and bringing food, etc. The easiest way is to go through the evites and make sure to include your total people coming and if you are bringing something, and then everything is all in one place. Thanks!
Hope you all enjoyed the fall break (if you had one) and we'll see you at practice on Tuesday!

It's HOT!
I am definitely ready for some cooler weather! Although this is NOTHING compared to Texas heat, so we don't have much to complain about at our house. :)
This upcoming Saturday's game is the last one before we take a break and have no games on Oct. 3rd or Oct. 10th. Not sure what the plan is on practices, so Sash could you please clarify that?
The Olsons are signed up to bring snacks for the game. Thanks Olsons!
Party plans are in the makings for both the team party at our house and the grown up party at the Martins. You should have received information and/or evites for both of those. Please RSVP either way as soon as you know so that we can properly plan for both parties. I hope everyone can make it to both! They are going to be fun, fun, fun!
I didn't take that many pics this last game, but here's what I've got. Somehow Hadley managed to play soccer in his croc shoes. That's a first I'm sure. Oh and there's a few pics below mine from the game before last that Jay sent me (that he took with his fancy camera that makes my pics look awful)! ;)
Enjoy and see you Saturday!

Interesting Game & Party Planning
Hi everyone! Last Saturday's game was certainly an interesting one... with the rain, and the kids doing all sorts of amusing things. I took way more pics than I thought. In fact my camera battery eventually died and I was forced to stop. There are some good ones in here. Some really cute ones and some really funny ones - you all have my permission to laugh at Hadley when he decided to sit in the corner (literally in the pie corner) of the field and not play. We also had quite a bit of socializing going on. Braeden and Hadley decided to just have a good old time talking and goofing around while poor Michael had to take on all the players himself. But they are not the only guilty party! I caught Jenna and Adrianna doing the same thing on the other field...although they looked more like they were discussing hair and fashion. And where did the amazon kids come from that looked like they were straight out of the pizza parlor from the movie "Kicking and Screaming"??? There is one picture where the kids are lined up to start, and this kid is literally twice as tall as Hadley standing directly across from him. No wonder he preferred the corner! Anyway, enjoy the pics.
We have the Bakers signed up for snacks this Saturday and look forward to seeing how things "play" out this game! :)
I still haven't heard from many, nay, most of you about the team party, that I mentioned in the last post. I will send out a regular email just in case some of you are not receiving the blog for some reason, but we are going to go ahead with Saturday the 7th at our house. I'm thinking around 4ish? Then everyone can just stay as long as they want; we won't put an end time. Although we may kick you out and turn out the lights if it gets past midnight. ;)
This being my first time as a team mom and hosting a team party, I'm not exactly sure what everyone's expectations are. If you have any suggestions or requests, that would be great! I didn't know if anyone was interested in renting a bouncy house for the kids (if I could find one for a reasonable price) if we all chipped in. I can come up with a couple of different options and how much they would cost per family, and you can decide which would be best. Another idea would be to have kind of a potluck concept and have people sign up to bring things, or I am more than happy to take care of everything if you would rather just pitch in. I'll send the details of costs, etc. via email to make sure everyone gets the info. It's going to be lot of fun! See you at the game!
I couldn't figure out how to slow down the slideshow on here, so if you have any interest in my commentary, you may have to pause once in a while to be able to read it! :)

Practice, Practice, Practice
Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend. Ours was great fun! Back to the real world... We've had lots of practice now and we have another game this Saturday to show off our soccer skills - which somehow now include water balloons, but not sure how that fits into EDYSL's rulebook yet. ;)
Alan is signed up for bringing snacks this Saturday, so thanks in advance to the Buxtons!
We are halfway through the season - how did that happen so fast??? - and we (The Howalds) have offered our house to host the end of season party for the kids. Our last game is Oct 31st (remember no games Oct 3rd or 10th, unless I'm wrong!). So we're thinking of having the party on Nov. 7th. Please let us know if that is a conflict for anyone because we want everyone to be able to make it. Details will follow later.
The Martins have graciously offered to host the "adults" team party to celebrate all you hard working team parents! I'm pretty sure that babysitters will be a necessity for this one, but Tami can give us details for when and where on that....looking forward to it! FYI, Tony, I hope you know how to make a lemon drop martini. ;)
Here's some pics from the last couple of practices. I forgot my camera the day they had water balloons (tried to take some with my camera phone but that didn't work out too well), but it was great fun for all...except for maybe two whose names have been left out to protect the innocent - and crying - who ended up with water in their faces! oops.

Leason Learned
Well, we figured out that if you are 10-15 minutes late you have missed about half of the game already. Lesson learned! Hadley had been sick with a cough and we had to do a breathing treatment before we left so that's my story and I'm sticking to it! :)
It was an interesting game--probably didn't help being so hot! Some kiddos didn't really feel like playing, some kiddos left altogether, Michael was a rock star soccer player that day, Jenna was VERY into blowing bubbles with her gum, Hadley figured out how to score tons of goals, and Coach Barry did an excellent job handling everything (with some help from Elisha - go soccer mom!) and without the ALMIGHTY COACH SASH there. ;) Just kidding - we missed you guys! And thanks again to the Buttners for bringing snacks!
Don't forget that you can add any pictures you took just by joining the blog as a member! :)
Remember, there is no game this Saturday since it is Labor Day weekend, but as far as I know we DO still have practice on Tuesday. So we'll see you then! Have a great week and a safe and wonderful holiday weekend!

It's been a while...
I feel like I've been out of the "soccer loop" for awhile. We have been out of town and had sick ones at home over the last week, but we're getting back to normal and excited about our game this Saturday! Here's a few reminders from the latest EDYSL newsletter that I thought were worth noting:
Forecast for Brentwood/Oakley area is for a high 90’s to low 100’s for this coming Saturday. Accordingly, it is best to prepare players prior to the game. Drinking water is the best manner to hydrate and prepare the body for activity. During very hot weather, drink a minimum of six to eight glasses of cool fluids (1-1/2 to 2 quarts) such as water, fruit juice, or fruit-flavored drinks, even if you are not thirsty. A simple manner for players or parents to check is the color of the urine. A clear to light yellow color indicates good hydration, while a more yellow or goldish color would indicate more fluids are! necessary.
Fan Role During Games
Before the Game:
1. Make a commitment to Honor the Game in action and language no matter what others may do.
2. Tell your child before each game that you are proud of him or her regardless of how well he or she plays.
During the Game:
1. Fill your children's "Emotional Tank" through praise and positive recognition so they can play their very best.
2. Don't give instructions to your child during the game. Let the coach correct player mistakes.
3. Cheer good plays by both teams (this is advanced behavior!)
4. Mention good calls by the official to other parents.
5. If an official makes a "bad" call against your team? Honor the Game—BE SILENT!
6. If another parent on your team yells at an official? Gently remind him or her to Honor the Game.
7. Don't do anything in the heat of the moment that you will regret after the game. Ask yourself, "Will this embarrass my child or the team?"
8. Remember to have fun! Enjoy the game.
After the Game:
1. Thank the officials for doing a difficult job for little or no pay.
2. Thank the coaches for their commitment and effort.
3. Don't give advice. Instead ask your child what he or she thought about the game and then LISTEN. Listening fills Emotional Tanks.
4. Tell your child again that you are proud of him or her, whether the team won or lost.
And of course remember it's all about having fun, fun, fun! And a special KUDOS to Coach Barry for making our fabulous banner able to stand on it's own! :)
I don't have any pictures from last weekend's game to post, but remember if you sign up to the blog as a member you can add any pictures you have taken yourself! :)

Shady Oaks Game & Picture Day
Well, even though we had to get up at the crack of dawn, it was a fun day and a great game! I think they are all getting into it now, so it can only get better! Can't wait to see the team photos!
Thanks again to Coach Sash and CiCi for hosting the Team Dynamo Slumber Party! So glad it was a success and everyone had a blast! You guys ROCK!
Thanks also to everyone who contributed to the banner. I think it looks great!
BARRY, DON'T FORGET TO GET THE STAKE THINGS TO PUT IT IN THE GROUND... THIS IS YOUR REMINDER. :)
Hope you are all having a great week and we'll see you at practice tomorrow!
Saturday's game is at Shady Oaks again. Kim and Ryan, you are signed up for snacks.
We will be out of town (Vegas Baby!) but my mom will be here from Texas taking care of Hadley so she will bring him to the game...if she can find it. ;)
Have a great week!
